Our weekly sessions take place at Bishop Wood School in Tring at the following times:
9.30am – 10.45am:
Aimed at children aged 4 – 8 years.
At this age, theatre and storytelling is an extension of play. We want to encourage the wonder and excitement of building small worlds, creating characters, sharing ideas, and growing in confidence as a storyteller.
At this young age, we will focus less on performance and more on sharing. With this in mind, we have reserved the last 15 mins of each session for parents to join with us to witness the ideas that have been created.
11.00am – 12.30pm:
Aimed at children aged 8 – 12 years.
Now the sessions shift into the embodiment and enactment of stories. Through voice and physicality these devised characters can develop and grow. Characters and scenarios get brought to life through interactions and plot development, as well as the use of props and costumes.
12.45pm – 2.15pm:
Aimed at young people aged 12 – 16 years.
Here the sessions move into a more in depth look at all aspects of the production process, and the craft of putting together an original performance. There will be the opportunity to try their hand at many different production roles, with an emphasis on building confidence by encouraging collaborative, ensemble work.
In all of our sessions CYT members will have access to materials and resources to aid and support their growth in imagination, creativity and theatre craft.
At CYT there are also opportunities for young people aged 14+ to volunteer as peer leaders in the 4-8 and 8-12 groups, as well as opportunities for 17 & 18 year olds to gain valuable work experience as session assistants.
