We are excited to launch a series of masterclasses aimed at young people aged 10 – 18. Taking place on a Saturday afternoon, these sessions will be delivered by our own professional tutors, as well as some guest tutors who will be sharing their specialisms.
All sessions will take place at Temperance Hall on Saturday afternoons from 3pm – 4.30pm. There are a maximum of 20 places available, charged at £10 per session.
Saturday 16th Nov 2013: Directing for stage & film
Using short scripts from stage, TV & film, explore different directing techniques and have a go at directing your own production. The director’s chair, costumes, props, lights & cameras will all be on hand to assist in your creativity.
Saturday 14th Dec 2013: Christmas Film Project
This session runs from 1.30 – 4pm at a cost of £15 per person.
Come and dress the set, pick the costumes, props and music and film your very own Christmas greeting for family and friends. Complete the package by designing your own DVD cover ready for an extra special gift. (Everyone will receive their own DVD to take away with them)
Saturday 25th Jan 2014: Circus Workshop
With the theme of the Circus dominating our production this year, come and explore some of the skills that are at the very heart of circus life. From tightrope walking and juggling to stilts, hoops and lions!?!, this is a high energy, hands on workshop.
Saturday 8th Mar 2014: Stage Combat
When two groups of characters fall out and a battle is brewing… come and explore the world of stage combat. From body language and stature to choreography and battle techniques… learn the theatrical skills to defend your team.
Saturday 22nd Mar 2014: Set & Prop making
A hands-on workshop exploring how theatrical designers transform a performance space using set and props. From fairies at the bottom of the garden to goblins and sprites in the tree trunks, come and create a fantasy world for miniature characters using nature as our inspiration.
Saturday 10th May 2014: Shadows & Mime
Using shadow screens, objects and illusions, this workshop explores the art of storytelling through physical theatre, music and lighting.
Saturday 24th May 2014: Puppetry
From marionettes to sock puppets and everything in between… with access to our vast collection of puppets, this workshop will give you the opportunity to learn how to operate the puppets and bring them to life. There will also be the opportunity to create your own puppet to take home with you.
Saturday 21st June 2014: Masks & Disguises
Using a wide variety of masks and disguises, this workshop looks at creating characters, developing their physicality, their voice and their personality. Learn how to handle different masks from Commedia dell’Arte and Japanese Kabuki, through to Masquerade and character masks such as those developed by Trestle theatre Co.
